In 2010, I became involved with an amazing organization called Help a PR Pro Out (HAPPO) and served as the Michigan champ. HAPPO was an initiative that sought to use social media to leverage relationships to connect those seeking a job in the PR industry with employers, as well as to help PR professionals advance in their careers. We conducted regular chats on Twitter and hosted in-person events to foster relationships between PR professionals, job seekers and employers.
In 2012, I began to publish the Help a PR Pro Out (HAPPO) Michigan Report, a biweekly e-newsletter that included job openings, events, a featured job seeker or PR rockstar and relevant articles/blog posts.
The HAPPO organization has since dissolved, and in 2015, I rebranded HAPPO to the MichComms Report.
